Visiting five enterprises in Nghe An Province
During his visit to five companies in Nghe An province on the 23rd and 24th of October 2014, Chief Technical Adviser on CSR Mr. Florian Beranek, together with CSR Consultants, received many ideas and comments on labour, environment, community, and fair-operating, among other issues.
Regarding the topic of labour, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dinh, General Director of The Dinh Nhan Tole Iron and Steel Manufacture Co., Ltd stated: “Some current training schools are not meeting many company needs. My company is one example - we can not employ any new graduates or find suitable candidates to fill positions in the company, so we are forced to recruit employees in a “going to market” manner. This means we select someone, send them to training courses for one or two months, and then finally test them via skill examinations after which, if they pass, they are employed.”
The Tapioca Starch Factory - Intimex Vietnam Corporation has no problem with labour skill issues, however one of their needs is to develop a new casavar seed. “During the past ten years, not only in Vietnam but also in other Southeast Asian Countries, farmers are still raising KM94 as a common crop,” said Mr. Tran Quoc Hoan, Deputy General Director of Intimex and Director of the Tapioca Starch Factory.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, President and CEO of Nghe An Food Jsc. reported that short training courses for enterprises in the province are likely not conducted as much as they could be. Meanwhile company demands are high, and training would help both with raising awareness and with resolving and improving technical issues within the business.
CTA Florian Beranek has informed these companies that labour and other related issues will be discussed in-depth at the CSR Calendar Forum, which will look at how internal training can be implemented to improve company productivity. The forum will take place at three different areas in the coming weeks. In addition, there are plans to conduct a Local Advisor Training in Nghe An in the near future.
